We are in the process of replacing the old website with this new site. The new site will allow users to enter match results, obtain league results and new league tables directly from the website. Players can message the League Managers through new Contact and Joining Forms. We also spent some time automating the generation of results tables to make the task of managing the Leagues easier.

We have changed the match results form to properly reflect the scores and make it easier to automatically process the results using scripting languages. As previously a match is made up of two games.  but now you record the actual results of each game Won 1-0, Draw 0.5 -0.5 or Lost 0-1. All selections on the Form are from a dropdown lists to make it easier and avoid errors entering results.

The player playing white on the first game (now Player1) to submit both results on the Match Results Form.

I have now set up the new forms for the Red10 league so use the new form on the Submit link RED10 LEAGUE page :- Red10 Submit Results

For the Blue15 league this month use the old Airtable link and record the combined results here:-

Blue15 :- Classic Blue15 Match Results Form

At the beginning of each month the new League tables will be uploaded by the League Manager to the BLOG page and at the bottom of the HOME page. Review the tables and arrange games with the others in your League/Division.

If you have any questions/queries over match results etc. just write a comment at the bottom of the Blog Post in the Comments section.

Chess Network

Welcome to the u3a Chess Network. It’s an initiative created by our two chess subject advisors David Castle and Rob Kruszynski.

The aim of the Network is to encourage local u3a chess groups who play face-to-face and the playing of chess online at the local, regional and national level. All chess abilities are catered for and we especially welcome members who have just started playing chess.

When you join the Chess Network you will receive occasional newsletters, invitations to Zoom meetings and the opportunity to contact other u3a Chess Network members who would like to play online.

If you would like advice on starting a Chess group in your u3a contact the Chess Subject Advisor on the national U3A website.

Regional Chess Advisors

We would like to recruit chess network members with an interest in spreading the message to be regional chess advisors.  If  you are interested and would like to find out more contact David Castle, Chess Subject Advisor.
