Chess Online
Most network members use Chess.com for online chess.
Within Chess.com is a U3A Chess Club. It’s not easy to find it and the instructions below will help you.
Joining U3A Chess Club on Chess.com
Login or sign-up if you have not joined chess.com before.
In the left-hand menu hover over Connect. The lefthand side of your screen should look something like Screenshot 1.
Click on Clubs
In the search box towards the top of the screen type U3A and press enter
Click on U3A Chess Club which is usually the top one – see Screenshot 2
Click on the Join Button towards top/centre – see Screenshot 3
Then the Submit button – see Screenshot 4
What happens next?
The U3A Chess Club has two administrators – Neil Stevens and David Castle.
When they go on Chess.com they will see your request to join and tick a box to accept you.
Next time you log-in to Chess.com when you hover over Connect and click on Clubs you will see U3a Chess Club. Click on this and you will see over on the righthand side of the screen a list of things you can do in the Club. One of these is Members. Click on Members and you will see a list of members with the opportunity to challenge them to a game or send them a message etc.
