Here are some questions and answers that people ask when they start playing in the league.

You score 1 for winning a game, 1/2 for a draw and 0 for a lost.  A match consists of two games – one playing white and one playing black.  So the possible combinations of points scored for a match are  2, 1 1/2, 1, 1/2 and 0.

Go to the Leagues page of the Chess Network website and click on the “Submit Results” button.  Note that a match consists of 2 games – one in which you play white and one where you play black.

Please submit your result as soon as you have completed each of your matches.  The closing date for results is the last day of the calendar month.  If you submit a result after this your points for this late result will not be counted in your score for that division.

Yes please do.  It makes the results more complete for everyone.

Any uncompleted games will score 0 points for both players unless it can be shown that you have repeatedly tried to arrange a match but the other player is unable to play you before the end of the month. In that case you will score 1 point for each unplayed game.

The League Management Team aim to email everyone with details of the next month’s round within 7 days of the start of the month.  The new divisions will reflect the promotions and relegations resulting from the previous month’s matches.

Yes, and we welcome newcomers to chess.  You will learn a lot by having a go.  BUT you have to be a member of a U3A to take part.
